Portrait Photographer – Is It a Thing of the Past?

Portrait Photographer – Is It a Thing of the Past?

Is the photographer becoming a thing of the past? With everyone taking pictures on their mobile phones and point and shoot cameras getting better and better, most people have hundreds of pictures on their computers. Which I think is great for remembering things that happened in years to come. But how many people actually get photos printed these days.

I think there is still a great need for actual photographers and not just people who buy DSLRs and put it into 'p' for pro mode. When it comes to those big moments in life such as weddings people generally want great photographs to cherish forever. Getting your neighbor who has a nice looking camera to take pictures is not going to guarantee you great pictures.

However a good professional photographer that knows what they are doing has the equipment and knows how to use it is going to guarantee you great pictures. In fact any good photographer will sign a contract stating exactly what you will get. And with so many great ways to view your pictures like photo albums, photo books, large format prints, canvas prints, printing on metal and many others you can get some great packages.

Now weddings are not the only big occasion to have a professional photographer for, newborn babies are a huge occasion, they are only that little for a blink of an eye. So why would not you want the best pictures you could possibly have.

Before the newborn pictures, there are the maternity photographs and we all love a good bump picture, so why not get a package together. A really nice artistic picture of the pregnant belly sometimes with dad as well on one big canvas then a couple of smaller canvases underneath with bubba look fantastic hung in any room in the house.

I think as people come back to the realization that looking at a snap shot on a screen does not compare to seeing a really good photograph on a wall, the want for photographers will pick up. Taking pictures on an iPhone and adding some filters in instagram to further destroy the quality might look good on a Facebook page but try putting that on a large format and it's really not.

All in all computers are here to stay and technology is advancing and making it easier for the average jo to take some good pictures, but to get a great picture you need a photographer. I also think it is down to photographers to show people the difference in picture quality and to show them why they would want hard copies of those pictures.
